Intrinsically Safe Display Indicators for use in Hazardous and Classified Environments

The MKE-5-IS Digital Indicator has all of the mechanical features and advantages present in the MKE-5 (the non-IS equivalent). However, the MKE-5-IS is exclusively built to be Explosion Proof and Intrinsically Safe for use in Hazardous/Classified Environments. The indicator features a flame proof Nylon Enclosure and a specially designed control board approved for intrinsic safety. Our full function keypad enables alphanumeric data input, while the large graphic display gives easy to read results. A variety of communication options allows data to be sent to and received from other computerized instruments.

New Features

The MKE-5-IS Intrinsically Safe Digital Indicator can now be configured in multiple ways to meet the needs of specific applications. AC Powered Systems are now available (see Configuration #2). Intrinsically Safe

Class I, II, III, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F & G Class I, Zone 0, AEx ia IIC (T3 Ta=60C) Indoor Hazardous (Classified) Locations. Nonincendive for use in Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D Suitable for use in Class II, Division 2, Groups F & G. Class III Division 2 indoor Hazardous (Classified) Locations.

Flame Proof & Water Resistant

Special flame proof Nylon enclosure allows sealed with rubber gasket helps keep out moisture.

Easy to See

Stainless steel swivel bracket allows the display to be seen from any angle. The bracket may be mounted in a convenient spot on a post, or desk or wall.

Load Cell Connectivity

Compatible with 4-wire Load Cell connection (Excitation +, Excitation -, Signal +, Signal -). Comes with 5-pin DIN connectors or HDMI connection for ease of use. Wiring information available on request. Customized connectors also supported.

Safe Communication Options

The MKE-5-IS allows for low-voltage intrinsically safe communication to take place using RS-422, 4-wire communication. It also allows for discrete Setpoint outputs for trigger signals to be sent to PLCs.

Expandable Outputs

In addition to intrinsically safe communication options, the MKE-5-IS can also be equipped with non-IS communication features such as RS-232, USB, Ethernet TCP/IP and Wi-Fi.

Secondary Display

Advanced options, features and outputs such as USB Data Logging, Modbus, Integration with Google Spreadsheets and AxChange Cloud Monitoring are available with a secondary display in the safe area. Check out the Upgrades Table below for a list of options we offer.
